lithium orotate | ADHD Information
Has anyone heard of lithium orotate? I have come across this a couple of times lately...
It is supposed to help with moods and focus and even memory.
Well I read up and went on line and ordered the Lithium Orotate... I will keep you posted.
So almost a week now and still hard to tell. My older son 12 went on a two night field trip and since the lithium is not a prescription he did not take it with him. He evenings still continued to be smooth and homework done without the usual irritation on his part... He has shut off games and come to dinner with a smile and his appetite is good. He says he feels together and focused at school.
The smaller son 8, I have not seen as much behavior change. He takes concerta 36 and intuniv because he is incredibly hyper and implusive and unfocused. The meds work pretty well as far as I am concerned but others have suggested he needs more. (Actually they suggest he needs meds and when I tell them he takes them they suggest he needs more.) I see him as a very active lovable boy. His real problem is learning issues. He already takes piracetam, choline, fish oil and dietary enzymes to help his system function better and now we have added the lithium orotate. I have to say that this week my little guy seems to "get " his homework more than usual. Not sure if that means something or if it is just wishful thinking.
Hello. I'm new here. I found this forum while researching
lithium orotate for adhd. My 16-year-old son is not
diagnosed but I feel that ADHD is strong possibility.
I've considered it for years. This is not a new problem.
He doesn't have the hyperactivity but I believe he has
the inattention and other "symptoms". He always says
there's nothing wrong with him if I ask if he has trouble
concentrating. He was a toddler that people constantly
commented on how smart he was. I worried he would be a
nerdy bookworm type and get picked on. Well that worry
was replaced with the worry of his not doing well in
school as he started with reading problems. It still
confounds me. He fights taking any kind of supplement. So
I was wondering if LO has any taste and if it would be
possible to sneak it into his food. I know that probably
sounds terrible but I would love to give it a try and I
know he would fight me on it.Things are going very smoothly for my older one. He has been calm all day and a pleasure last night. The smaller one has had too much going on and has had a couple minor meltdowns.
As for me I can't really tell because I had surgery on my eye on Friday and I am still kind of drugged. Feeling lazy and smooth.
I love reading the updates! Thanks for taking the time to keep us posted.Well with my older one 12 homework went off with smiles instead of frustration. Good sign... Not that it never goes that way but confusion and frustration are the norm. This morning was calmer than usual but again we often have calm mornings. My little one was still very lost with going over spelling not new, but no improvement.
I am still at 5.8 mg last night and again this morning.
Curious thanks again for clarifying and all your patient information. Since I do not see any side effects I think I will up one of the doses. Maybe by half a pill at first to see...
Well I gave my boys both a Lithium Orotate last night about dinner time. All I saw was that they were really easy to get to bed. I gave them both another one this morning before school. Our morning was pretty wild but that is not unusual.
Removed this post due to cofusion.
Sorry,
CuriousCat CuriousCat40297.8188773148Ok..in your post before you said before breakfast and right before bed. Is that not right? So far it is only 5.8 mg I was planning to work up as I see what it does. So far no real behavior change or anything. Probably give 1 tablet again tonight.
oops!!!! So sorry, yes you are right....I was getting confused with my meds.
I was thinking about the Low Dose Naltrexone that we only take at night....I
am going to remove that post if I can. Lithium Orotate we do take 10mg in
am 1/2 hour before breakfast and at bedtime in pm. Thanks for the
correction. So empty stomach may be a key.
Sorry again. blmoretti-
I think it is good to start out with a lower dose since your son is small. My
daughter is about full grown at 135 pounds and takes 10mg 2 times per
day. I think that you would see results soon if it is working.Wow thank you so much! I have a nutritionist I use but she does conventions for a couple of insurance companies and I did not have a chance to run this by her. I went ahead and ordered this and am anxious to try it with my 12 year old. He is resisting his meds because he is small and wants to grow. His issue is hyperactivity and inattention. Every day I pick him up from school and he is ready to pick an argument. I rarely get sucked in these days and his temper passes quickly. I know he has held it together all day and I am a safe release and happy to be there for him. I am just hoping....
I think I will sneak it in my DH's breakfast! I am for sure ADHD so I plan to try it too! Could you PM me the brand you use?
Thanks again so much for your reply...
Hi blmoretti,
Please check your PM....the Lithium Orotate that we use is under a private label of our MD so I sent you his name and web address in a PM.
Thanks,
CuriousCat
Yes, we go to an Integrative MD and he has prescribed Lithium Orotate for my 14 year old daughter, my husband and me.
My daughter and I are on so many supplements that I can't tell you what the Lithium Orotate is doing for us. I use to take 70mg Vyvanse and I am no longer taking it and I don't feel that I need it anymore. My daughter has also discontinued 40mg Vyvanse. She is VERY tired and sleeping a lot after stopping the Vyvanse, but the doctor said that it may take about 3 weeks to adjust. Her mood is better though.
My husband, however, is on very few supplements. Just a multi-vit., B6 complex, and the Lithium Orotate. In just 2 days his mood was amazingly better!!!! He feels at peace and happy. (miraculous for him) He also feels like his blinders are off and is interested in lots of little things that he never noticed before. He was/is a workaholic, and was only interested in business issues. He now finds joy in little things. He is not as irritable or grumpy. I always thought that he was ADhD....the hyper focused type...but he has never been diagnosed. My kids think that he is bi-polar...again no diagnosis.
We are all taking 10mg 2 times per day (1/2 hour before breakfast and at bedtime).
The doctor said that it helps with mood, focus, memory, and even helps prevent alsheimers (sp?). He said that it is an element not a drug....but still you would not want to use too much of it. I think that doctor supervision would be a good idea if possible.
Good Luck.
