Did Child Crawl A Lot | ADHD Information

Just wondering how long your ADHD child crawled for.

Our son never crawled.  He only rolled.  Then we did OT at 10 mos as he was not sitting on his own and then he walked at 12 mos.

My son barely crawled.  He walked at 9 mo and 1 week!  AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  my ADHD son started crawling at 10 months and didn't walk until 16 1/2 months.

Our child was same way, I think they call it developementally delayed. These kids that did not mature as fast as other kids have a hard time catching up. Kids these days are on the fast track anyhow, to get schools to state testing excellence standards. So its really hard on a kid that was developementally delayed to have to go to school and do work that was once expected of a much older child. Emotional maturity is key to learning and most people dont know it. They are finding out that the emotions play huge part in a childs abilty to think. Alot of these kids issues are theri lack of thinking about the ramifications of what they do or how people precieve them. I just read another recent research article on this theory. I will put it in another post.

One more thing, since these kids are delayed in their maturity , alot of pressure is applied in nit picking them ect. to try and make them more mature and to catch them up in their maturity. This only worsens the problems because a child that is not emotionally mature for what pressures is being applied will only get worse because the stress of it all throws the system more out of balance and makes the kid get impulsive and have behvioral issues.

My daughter didn't crawl that much either..........Just walked at 10 mos.  Both my girls did!!!!!!!  (my oldest with no probs other than being a teenager) crawled at 6 mos.I can't remember the crawling part, but he started walking at 13 months. My son (ADHD) crawled the army crawl at 10 months, but didn't walk until 17 months. I was so scared, his sister was born when he was 19 months. I couldn't think how I was going to carry 2 of them. AND, he was  big lug....9#9oz at birth. His sister (not ADHD) crawled at 8 months and walked at 10 months. She was little dainty thing, I could have carried her much easier at 17 months then him. my dd never crawled, on her hands and knees she crawled on her feet and hands that last about 2 months then at 10 months walked.my son was walking at 6 months and running at 10 months.

My son never crawled-he "scootched" at 9 months walked by 11! We thought it was so cute-little did we know that the scootching was just the first sign of things to come!!

I actually saw another baby doing the "scootch" this summer.  I told the father that my son did the same thing! The father started telling me that his mother keeps telling him that it could lead to issues later on if they don't crawl-difficulty crossing the midline, not losing the infantile reflexes, etc.  The father wanted me to laugh with him and tell him that we didn't have any of those issues!!! Well, I didn't know what to say!!! I finally said-to tell you the truth, your mother may be correct-we had all the same issues! My girlfriend whom I was with said I should not have said anything and told the man that his son would be fine and discounted my view!

I felt bad as I could see the worry in that father's face, but wouldn't you rather know the truth!!

My son crawled at 5 months and was walking around furniture etc... at 6 months.  Ran everywhere by 8 months.
