Getting off Strattera | ADHD Information

Share
Does anyone have any suggestions about supplements while getting off Strattera? I'm adultADD, but Losing my hair , so, need alternative for SNRI.

Are you talking about supplements to replace Strattera?  I'm not sure what SNRI is.

I mentioned it in another post, but we use glyco-nutrition products and are very pleased with them.  Everyone I know using them have taken their kids off Strattera at the drs. instruction.  We are about to take our son off Strattera - he's been using the glyco-  so we'll soon see how that goes for us.

AspieMom,
I'd like to hear more about the Glycoscience. I visited the site but didn't get any product information. Are there specific products to buy or is there a special diet?
I have FMS and my son has ADHD/anxiety. Thanks
Donna

I've visited the site a few times, myself, and find the lingo a little challenging.  I think it's mostly set up for physicians, altho it's supposed to be for everyone.  I have some informative DVD's and some literature that is very helpful in explaining about it.  You can email your mailing address to me at jdhoward@ptd.net and I'd be happy to mail it to you.  I'm not sure where you live, but there are often meetings around the United States that are very interesting and informative.  I'm in PA and we have someone in the area about every month.

To answer your question, it is supplements that you buy.  There is more than one.  I have Adult CF and started on them a few weeks ago after seeing the difference in my son and in other people.  Most are capsule or caplet form.  My son has Aspergers & ADHD.  We tried naturopathic remedies, but they only worked for a short while. Then we tried Feingold Diet and then went to prescriptions.  Nothing ever helped the depression & anxiety.  Then someone told me about how this had changed their life and we were willing to try just about anything...and I'm so glad we did.  FMS - is that Fibromyalgia?

Feel free to email or PM me.  Deb

I was just wondering what your experience was like with strattera? I'm thinking about that option for my daughter. Any advise would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Crystal

Crystal, I advise you NOT to put your daughter on Strattera.  My son was on it and while it helped him concentrate better and not be so hyper, he started talking about killing himself or trying to hurt himself.  I decided to go with glyco-nutrients, hoping they would help enough that I could take my son off Strattera.  They did and I did!  About a week after he was removed from Strattera it was all over the news that parents were reporting a side effect of suicidal thoughts and behavior.  This made me VERY glad I stopped it.  Incidentally, that behavior stopped when I stopped the Strattera.

There are options other than prescription drugs.  I find that glyco-nutrients have worked great for us.  I mean, GREAT!  If you want to learn about this option, go to www.glycoscience.org.  This nutrition program is not specifically aimed at ADHD/ADD, Autism Spectrum, etc.  It works at the base on a cellular level, so the cells can communicate better, so it gives the body what it needs to heal itself.  I know, it sounds too good to be true, doesn't it?  If you have questions, I'd be happy to help.  When you find something that really works for you, you want others to know!!

Blessings, Deb[QUOTE=crystal-angel]
