Email Brandi Valentine I've been reading through Voices from Fatherhood, Fathers, Sons and ADHD. This book is filled with comments from fathers as well as adult sons about their feelings and experiences in dealing with this disorder and each other. I also realized that I didn't have to be a father to see some of the same feelings and questions I have had over the years reflected in this book. If you haven't had the time to take a look at this book, please do so. I think you'll find some very helpful and insightful information inside. B B> "VOICES FROM FATHERHOOD, FATHERS, SONS, AND ADHD". I'm really excited about two new books that are coming out. Both Books deal with ADDults and are due out in July of 1997. THE ADDed DIMENSION, Everyday Advice for Adults with ADD.This book is written by the authors of YOU MEAN I'M NOT LAZY, STUPID OR CRAZY? Kate Kelly and Peggy Ramundo and D. Steven Ledingham with a forward by Thom Hartman. This book is available in hardback and has a publication date of July 10, 1997. It's 272 pages long and will cost you $20.00. This book is written specifically to provide inspiration and insight into all of the important issues, challenges, and rewards an ADD adult faces. The ADDed Dimension provides day-to-day advice showing how the traits and behavior of an ADD adult can become assets rather than liabilities. While adults with ADD appreciate books like You mean I'm not Lazy, Stupid or Crazy? and Driven to Distraction, they're tired of focusing on symptoms and problems. They know about their limitations and failings-what about a book that focuses on the positive aspects of ADD, the humor, the creativity, the energy? The ADDed Dimension has special typeface to accomodate reading difficulties in adults with ADD, The book is divided by subject. They include: difficulties in work, relationships, organization, money, communication, and anger. Each page is presented in the same appealing fashion: an inspiring quote relating to the issue, a description of the issue, and a new postive way to think about issue.
I like the size of the book, it's bigger than a paperback but much smaller than most hardbacks which makes this book perfect to stuff in your purse or briefcase and take with you. It consists of 10 chapters, Excess Baggage- The shoulds: Blame, Shame, Guilt, and other useless emotions, Coping with Differences, Emotional Roller coaster, From Chaos to Balance, Relationships and communication, Work, Work, Work, Work...., Organizing Time and space, Learning Memory, Stress and ADD: A disorder or an ADDed Dimension?. This book also contains a list of resources including internet resources. The Link Between ADD and Addiction: Getting the Help You Deserve. This book is available in paperback and is done by Wendy Richardson, MA. It has been estimated that 15 million Americans suffer from ADD and that as many as 50% of them use alcohol and other drugs to medicate their symptoms. The Link Between ADD and Addiction provides the information millions of people need to finally conquer their addiction whether they are hooked on crack, prescription drugs, gambling, compulsive spending, binge eating or sex. Untreated ADD, including impulsiveness, difficulty concentrating, communication problems in personal and work relationhips, lateness, and poor organizational skills can destroy one's life. These people may turn to drugs, alcool and other addictive behavior to control some of the problems caused by ADD.
This book is also convenient in size and includes chapters on: You can have a Better Life, The Link Between ADD and Addictions, What ADD looks and feels like, Genetics and the Brain, Checklists for ADD traits, Appreciating your Assests, Evaluating your relationship with Drugs and Alcholo, Self-medicating ADD with alcohol, drugs and food, Self Medicating with Addictive Behaviors, Practical Tools to help you cope, Help through medication Why and when it may be right for you, Preventing ADD and Addiction Relapses, Your unique challenges with 12 step programs and Healing the big five: Feeling your Feelings.

New Books: WILLIE: Raising and Loving a Child with Attention Deficit Disorder by Ann Colin.
